Emergency Care Centre

Gold Coast Private is a fully accredited 284 bed medical and surgical hospital with a 24 hour Emergency Care Centre.

The Emergency Care Centre (ECC) is a co-located facility offering comprehensive, streamlined care.

The ECC has experienced emergency doctors who are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We provide:

• Rapid assessment
• 24 hour medical and nursing cover
• Onsite x-ray and pathology
• Emergency specialists on call 24 hours a day
• 24 hour cardiac chest pain referral centre
• Onsite 24 hour catheterisation laboratory with an experienced team of interventional cardiologists and nurses
• Resuscitation bay.

Who can come to the ECC?

Whether you have private health insurance, Work Cover, Veteran's Affairs or are uninsured, patients at Gold Coast Private can be assessed and treated at our ECC.

Please note that any out-of-pocket fees incurred in the ECC are settled on the day of service.

Workplace injury

Our ECC staff will ensure you receive immediate assessment, treatment and referrals (where appropriate) to help you return to your normal duties as quickly as possible.

WorkCover will cover all costs of your visit once your claim has been confirmed.

Veterans’ Affairs

Patients qualifying for Veterans’ Affairs are fully covered for ECC visits and inpatient services. These patients receive no out-of-pocket expenses.

After your ECC visit

Following assessment and management by the doctor in ECC you may need to be admitted to one of the Gold Coast Private inpatient wards for ongoing medical treatment or surgery.

If you are well enough to return home, with your consent, a medical report (including investigations and relevant treatment) will be sent to your GP and other relevant treating doctors within 24 hours. This provides vital information to assist your doctor with ongoing management.

Consultation fee structure

Standard consultation fees apply at the ECC. Part of these fees are covered by Medicare. If required, medical imaging, including x-ray, CT scan, ultrasound and MRI, pathology, pharmacy and specialist costs are rendered separately.

WorkCover and Veterans’ Affairs patients are covered by the relevant insurance schemes. Please ask our reception staff for details.
