Gastroenterology

Diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal diseases rely on the expertise of gastroenterologists and surgeons working together to provide timely procedures.

Conditions that can be diagnosed, managed and treated include:

  • gastrointestinal and colorectal cancers, Crohn’s ​​​​​​disease, colitis, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome and functional conditions of the upper and lower gastrointestinal system.

Our operating theatres

Your surgery will be performed in one of our many operating theatres. Newcastle Private Hospital theatres attract leading surgeons and qualified surgical teams. 

Our surgical teams are supported by leading technology and equipment in the theatres. And we work closely with imaging and pathology to bring market-leading diagnostic technology to you. 

We have two theatre complexes. Your theatre could be in the Kingston or Croudace building.


Recovery

After surgery you can expect wonderful care in post operations unit followed by care on one of our fully-monitored patient wards. There, our dedicated and experienced nurses will support your recovery and ensure your comfort.

At Newcastle Private Hospital our team in the operating theatres, patient wards and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) are experts at providing post-surgery care. 


The private patient experience

When you choose private, you’ll enjoy rapid access to surgery and be able to choose your own surgeon.

You’ll have access to allied health and support teams who provide care in the hospital. Our friendly Bookings and Admission team will book you in and answer any questions you have.

If you need rehabilitation after your surgery, your surgeon will talk with you about the best place for you. This may include onsite at Newcastle Private Hospital or our comprehensive day program.


No private health insurance?

If you don’t have private health insurance or you’re an overseas patient, you can choose to self-fund your surgery. Your specialist can talk to you about this option and obtain a quote from our administration team.
